WEEKLY CLASSES
Woodworking for Beginners-Level I
Designed
for people with little or no skill, this class covers use of all
basic hand and machine tools as well as the fundamentals of woodworking
techniques and safety procedures. Students will construct a small
cabinet. Mon, Feb 4-Apr 8, 6:30-9:30pm $325. Mat fee approx.$40.
Woodworking for Beginners-Level II
Building
on the basic skills acquired in Level I, this class will introduce
you to more complex operations. Emphasis is placed on the use
of special jigs and devices on the table saw, router and drill
press to achieve precision. Students will learn to joint and edge
glue boards to make the larger panels necessary for major furniture
pieces. You will also construct a piece of furniture of medium
complexity. Tues, Feb 5-Apr 9, 6:30-9:30pm. $325. Mat fee approx.$70. Prerequisite:
Level I.
Shaker Style Library Table-Level III
Students will build a solid wood table with one drawer and mortised and tenoned tapered legs. This class will introduce you to jointing and edging glue boards to make the larger panels necessary for this table. Emphasis will be on fine finish work, how to give your table a proper finish to show off its natural beauty and your fine handwork. Plan can also be adapted to build a coffee table. Wed, Feb. 6-Apr 10, $325. Material fee approx.$175.
Prerequisite: Level II
ONE & TWO DAY WEEKEND CLASSES
Router and Router Table Techniques
Learn to use one of the most versatile power tools in the modern
shop. This information packed workshop will be hands on and demonstrations
of mortise and tenon, edge details, pattern routing, dados
and rabbets, rail/stile raised panel, plunge routing, jigs and
fixtures, hinge and hardware mortising and lots more. Sat, Mar 1, 8am-4:00pm, $100 inc mat fee.
Router techniques level 2 will be offered if there is enough
interest. Prerequisite: Level 1.
Basic Techniques of Veneering
Demystify veneering, learn to expand and enhance your project options using wood veneers. Spend a weekend learning the basic skills necessary for success and begin enjoying another facet of woodworking. Students will try their hand on sample boards learning about glues, lay up techniques, substrate selection, joining and pressing small panels using a vacuum bag. Sat & Sun, Feb. 2-3, 8am-4pm, $180, $30 mat fee.
Registeration must be made 10 days prior
to the class start date. We need to know class sizes early in
order to purchase materials ahead of time.
