Summer Camp for Teens

We live in an age where mass production is king and school vocational programs are disappearing. As a result, many young people have never had the opportunity to try their hand at woodworking. We're losing an entire generation of potential craftspeople who never even get the chance to see if they might enjoy working with wood - either as a hobby or a career - or to develop simple handyperson skills.

That's why we're introducing a summer camp for teens aged 12 - 17. Under the guidance of an experienced high school shop teacher and an assistant, students will learn how to use power woodworking machinery (jointer, planer, tablesaw) to mill lumber and construct a small take-home project. They will also learn a few common joinery techniques and how to do basic hand finishing.

No experience is necessary. Students will be shown the safe use of machinery and will be monitored at all times. Eye and ear protection is provided.

Classes are limited to 10 students. Students should bring their own lunch. Limited refrigeration space available.

This class requires a special Enrollment Agreement, which includes Release Forms and a Safety Guidelines Acknowledgement to be signed by both the student and the parent prior to class.
